Work-Related and Behavioral Characteristics of Formal and Informal Waste Collectors in Rivers State, Nigeria

The study assessed the work-related and behavioral characteristics of formal informal waste collectors in Rivers State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional design was employed for this study. 314 collection workers were sampled using a multistage sampling technique. Data collected self-designed pretested questionnaire, observational checklists, clinical, laboratory measurements guide. analysis done Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 to analyze data from respondents. finding shows that at p = 0.05, calculated chi-square value 455.661 with degree freedom 92 more than critical 115.390. Thus, null hypothesis is rejected alternative accepted, which states significant difference among State. However, training retraining collectors, enforcing personal protective equipment, counselling on hard drugs will go long way arresting their poor behavior.
